The world premiere of Cinderella was danced by the Dutch National Ballet in The Amsterdam Music Theatre. The U.S. premiere by San Francisco Ballet was performed in Spring 2013, and the piece was seen in the fall of 2013 in NYC. To the music of the same name by Sergei Prokofiev (the most important composer of twentieth -century narrative ballet music), Wheeldon along with playwrite Craig Lucas is creating a telling of Cinderella based on the version by the Brothers Grimm. In Wheeldon's version, Cinderella's tears grow into an enormous magical tree, who along with four spirits, grants all Cinderella’s wishes. Twist will create the tree as well as some very special stage effects.
